The region and local tourism


 Sunshine:
An area that enjoys the second highest number of days of sunshine in France and an outstanding climate.
 Beaches:
More than 20km of fine sandy beaches are to hand, ideally situated between the Ile d’Oléron and The Côte Sauvage with its forest, the Arvert peninsula and the bays and beaches of Royan just 20 minutes away.
 Traditional oyster-farming:
The varied scenery of the Seudre marshes, oyster farms, the islands from the small, such as Aix to the large such as Ré or Oléron.
 Regional products:
The celebrated Marennes-Oléron oysters, “éclades” (mussels cooked in a bed of pine needles) Pineau, seafood… Many charming local markets take place daily in the surrounding villages.
 Fishing villages:
Mornac, Mortagne sur Gironde, La Tremblade…
 Sports:
Canoeing on the Seudre, water sports at the beaches, ports where you can hire boats and jet-skis, horse-riding, long bike rides, sailing and surfing of all kinds.
 Culture:
An incomparable architectural wealth, a range of monuments and sites such as the Romanesque churches of Saintonge-Côte Sauvage where there are frequent concerts, remains of the Roman period.
